I've had it with all the problems i've been having with
DreamHost. Currently, all of my money-making websites are hosted at dreamhost, but that's going to change next week when I switch them all to....
HostGator! To give DreamHost some credit, they do provide good hosting at a reasonable price. My websites were rarely down, and everything worked like it should. However, I was getting hundreds of spam emails to my passiveincomeinfo.com e-mail address. I thought it was a problem on my end, but it was a problem with their mail server. So I thought I could deal with the spam by just getting a spam filter, which fixed the problem. Since I switched PassiveIncomeInfo.com to Hostgator, I haven't gotten one spam e-mail!
Also, last week I was beta-testing a new website that i'm about to open (I will put the link to it here once it's open). This new website sells digital products that customer's download via a download link. The download link is sent to the customer's email address. Well I tried it out with my AOL e-mail address, and didn't get the download e-mail. Apparently, AOL blocks mail that comes from DreamHost's mail servers. I even tried sending an regular e-mail from my website to my AOL e-mail address, and it never showed up. So I have no choice but to switch website hosts.
I was going to keep all of my domain names on my dreamhost account, but when I went to change the DNS settings for one of them, the settings never changed. So, i'm going to transfer all of my domain names to GoDaddy.
Another common problem I had was logging into their control panel. If I used Mozilla FireFox, it didn't work. I was only able to login if I used AOL's crappy browser. HostGator uses a well known website control panel called CPanel, where as DreamHost had their own personal control panel that I didn't like that much.
Goodbye DREAMHost, Hello Hostgator!
